Wellesley Women’s Institute Ingredient Analysis:
Criteria | Our Comments | |
Phytoestrogenic Ingredients For Hot Flashes | Estrogen deficiency during menopause causes hot flashes. Macafem’s sole ingredient, Lepidium meyeni, has been historically used as a male libido booster with no influence on hormone levels.1
Progesterone and/or Progesterone Precursors | Progesterone balances out estrogen and is essential when supplementing the body with estrogen. Macafem does not affect hormone levels.
No artificial dyes | Macafem has no titanium dioxide. |
Macafem Ingredients
Each Macafem tablet contains 500mg of Lepidium meyeni which has been historically used as a male libido booster with no influence on hormone levels.1
Does Macafem Work?
Macafem does not address the causes of menopause symptoms, low estrogen and progesterone levels. The sole ingredient in Macafem is typically used for promoting male fertility and libido and thus, we are skeptical of its efficacy for menopause symptoms.
Is Macafem Safe?
The maca root has been consumed by the indiginous people of South America for ages without problems.

thank you for this information and doing the research on this product.
I am interested in a study where the supplement is used to treat women. The only resource given here is from the study using men. I am also interested in timeframe of when hormone levels are checked before, during, and after study.
OMG MACAFEM IS A GREAT PRODUCT THE ONLY PRODUCT THAT HAS TAKEN AWAY MY HOT FLASHES 100%.
Sandra…
Has it helped with other symptoms? I am not menopausal but I have very bad pms symptoms and no libido at all. Red clover has been suggested to me but it has been linked with breast cancer so I’m not keen.
I’ve been researching macafem but have found very mixed reviews so I’m none the wiser!
Any info you have would be marvellous! Thank you.
I agree with Sandy. I have been taking Macafem for about a month now. I was getting about three hot flashes an hour; I get about 6 a day now. And the night sweats have eased up too. I was waking up every hour. Now it’s only about once or twice a night. My sex life has improved also. I tried Black Cohosh, which did nothing for me and I read a report they are now checking liver enzymes with women taking Black Cohosh. I don’t want to take drugs. I don’t care what they say about Macafem, it seems to be working for me.
I have been taking macafem for about six weeks and my hot flashes and night sweats are completely gone. Trust me when I say they were horrible. Macafem works fir me :)))))
I’m 36 and had a hysterectomy (leaving only one ovary) ten months ago, and ever since I’ve been in a living hell. I have tried progesterone, estrodiol, and strong multi vitamins to treat various menopause symptoms with no luck. Can Macafem help me?
It does work! It helped me to feel better all around. I do not know about the hot flash situation. However, it is not REPLACEMENT therapy for hormones. It engages the organs we have to work again (more like they used to) or are supposed to work.
I’m sold. This is a natural way to help the body. It makes me feel like a ‘whole’ woman again!
The study needs to find more people before putting forth negative information.
ALSO: Macafem has NO side effects! Wellesley’s PICK HAS side effects. **Be careful out here**
