Criteria | Our Comments |
Phytoestrogenic Ingredients For Hot Flashes | Estrogen deficiency during menopause causes hot flashes. Estroven has 80mg of isoflavones from several sources. | |
– | Progesterone and/or Progesterone Precursors for Hormonal Balance | Progesterone balances out estrogen and is essential when supplementing the body with estrogen. Estroven does not have chasteberry which actually elevates progesterone levels. It does have black cohosh which contains progesterone precursors. |
Artificial dyes | Estroven tablets have carcinogenic titanium dioxide dye. |
Estroven Ingredients
Estroven has a number of vitamins and minerals as well as isoflavones to help with menopause problems. It has 80mg of isoflavones which help with estrogen deficiency but it does not have ingredients that address progesterone deficiency.
Does Estroven Work?
Low levels of estrogen and progesterone cause the symptoms of menopause. Estroven only addresses the estrogen portion of the menopause hormone problem. The isoflavones will address hot flashes and night flashes.
Is Estroven Safe?
Estroven does not have ingredients to raise progesterone, the other cause of menopause. We’d be more worried about whether or not it works.

Is Estroven OK to take for hot flashes & rapid heart beat? Believe it or not I still get hot flashes at age 77. Thank you.
It says to take two at mealtime, but is there any danger in taking 2 twice a day or 2 of the estroven and another product (proFema)?
I have been taking estroven with vitamins now for 15 days. I have big red spot on my back that looks like a rash (patch of bumps) which came up about 4 days ago. Yesterday morning woke up with another one about half the size and then this morning with another tiny one. Not sure its related but I can’t think of anything else new that I have been doing. So far I have not noticed any relief with hot flashes, night sweats or moodiness.
I ALSO HAVE THE PATCH OF RED BUMPS! It has to be the Estroven because like you, it’s the only new thing I’ve taken/eaten/used. It’s not going away and it’s 2 weeks.
I also got red patches on chest and as a pharmacist testify i never had them before. I think about titanium dioxide that may cause growth of them . In addition, having underactive thyroid, i had side effects in a form of profuse sweats 2 to 3 hours later after taking regardless what time of day i was taking and had sensations like blood boils. I stop taking. Only after a month this nightmare resolved. I still have some occasional flashes, but no more profuse cold sweats like while on estrovent. I gave estrovent 2 weeks of trial. As a healthcare prof. And as a 2 weeks trial participants, I will definetely warn patients about possilbe side effects.
P.s. Also, soy products in estrovent supress thyroid function, esp. For patients that take synthetic prescription medication for it. Please, consult your endocrinologist.
I was on it for 5 days. It really helped my hot flashes but I got the red bumps on the front of my thigh. Estrovin was the only change of food/medicine. The bumps make the skin on my whole thigh hurt when anything rubs on it such as clothing. I stopped taking it yesterday and have not gotten anymore bumps but the old ones are still there so far.
I took Estroven and within the first week, I had to visit the ER for severe headache and chest pain. The usual cardiac tests were performed and even a cardiac cath. Nothing appeared abnormal. I stopped the Estroven and became symptom free within 3 days of stopping the supplement. I do take a lot of medications and did not ask my MD first. I have fibromyalgia, am bipolar, and hypertension. I also found that Desryl the antidepressent also caused the same type of chest pain when I was taking it? Not sure if this was a contradiction in meds or just my body’s response? Just an FYI for others out there!
Thanks and Good Luck
It sounds that no one has had much luck with this, but I purchased and almost immediately stopped having the night sweats………………. I am thrilled.
Lori,
My sister uses Estroven and within two weeks, noticed a significant decrease in hot flashes. She now has almost no night sweats. She experienced no side effects, either! I think I’m going to give it a try.
Thanks for posting.

I have been using Estroven for about two years, and it definitely helped me with hot flashes (esp. night sweats) and moodiness. (And I saw a huge difference when I stopped taking it for a while, so went back to using it.) But my internal thermometer just went wacky, waking up nightly with ridiculous night sweats, totally moody and borderline depressed – (plus weight gain -) and Estroven is not helping enough – so I’m online looking for solutions.
Hi,
I am a 53 year old woman and have had severe hot flashes, night sweats and some weight gain. All the typical symtoms of menopause. I have taken everyuthing under the sun over the past 5 years and nothing works. I have just completed 4 weeks supply of Estroven and again…DID not work at all…don’t waste your money. I have noticed some skin rashes on my arms and the back of my legs that were not there before I started taking Estroven…not sure if it’s a coincidence or not. Just ordered my first bottle of Mandapause. This product received the highest rating and it also addresses the Estrogen and Progesterone levels needed to relieve symptoms. I will let you know after a couple of weeks if it works or not.

From riding the ingredients & it this works for people I would just say double up on muli-vitamins (a good one) and eat healthy. This does work. I had a hysterectomy and tossed into hot flashes, etc… but started to pay attention to what I eat & drink and they are more bearable and fewer.. I sleep most all night, may need to get up to go to the bathroom. I do take the Shaklee menopause balance complex – this is basically black cohosh & soy. Keeps the hot flashes under control & hardly any nigh sweats.. good luck!!!
I started using Estroven about 10 monthes ago. I am 53 and just started having hot flashes. It worked 100% within a week or so. After about a few monthes I started to have a few hot flashes during the night. I added nighttime and went to maximum strenth. This has worked fantastic for me for many monthes. I went off because my period strted again and now has stopped. I am using maximum strength 2x a day every other day and the nighttime. It took a little longer this time. Close to 3 weeks but it did get better. It is not 100% at this time. I tend to get a hot flash or 2 close to when I am waking up. Managable for me but I will keep on top of it. Working out is also key. I guess everyone is different but I would say keep trying and try to stay possitive. I know I have a long road ahead of me. Peace
I’ve been taking Estroven for 3 wks now and I feel much better! My mood swings and night sweats have went away and I haven’t noticed any side affects at all. I couldn’t be happier!
I started taking the Estroven Maximum Strength about 3 weeks ago for night sweats and mood swings and it works great for me with no side effects. My husband appreciates the help with the mood swings.
I am 55. I am on my 3rd box of 98 tablets Maximum Strength Estroven from a club. I can honestly say it doesn’t take away all the hot flashes however it has toned them down quite a bit! I quit taking hormones after being on them for over 12 years. This natural vitamin really helps!
I normally take Night Estroven with 1/2 Unisom. This combo was helping me to get a normal night’s sleep. A few days ago I did not have my Unisom so I decided to take 2 Night Estroven pills. I thought, “it’s a natural supplement so it can’t be that harmful”. By the 2nd day I had (and still have at the time of this posting) an unusual discharge. At first I thought I was beginning to have incontinence problems. I later realized it was a vaginal discharge. The flow is about as heavy as a light menstrual period. Yes, I will be seeing a doctor. I just thought this info could be helpful. Anyone else have the same problem?
I have been taking Estroblend for almost 30 days and it has helped with the night sweats then I had a full period (7 days).
I was on HRT (Prempro) for 6 years after gutting out menopausal symptoms (constant drenching hot flashes, night sweats, insomnia, mood swings) for 3 years. The Prempro alleviated all of my menopausal problems and restored quality of life. A real blessing! Due to a history of coronary heart disease in my family, my internist has taken me off HRT. I was distressed to return to all of the symptoms (although not quite as constant or as severe) I had had 6 years ago. I have been taking Estroven for 2 months since the return of the hot flashes but have not found it a useful product. Perhaps the missing progesterone is the problem for me. I was considering trying Amberen but am grateful to read here that that would likely produce no good effect. Maybe Mendopause is worth a shot. Good luck ladies!
I have been on Extra Strength Estroven for about four years. I began taking Estroven when after 45 days of heavy bleeding I developed a severe deficiency in iron. After taking Estroven for about a week and a half, my bleeding stopped. It has never helped with hot flashes or night sweats. It has helped with mood and energy. I tried to stop taking the Estroven thinking I could do without any supplement. When I did, I became very moody and lethargic. I would love to not have hot flashes or night sweats, but I am afraid to give up what relief of symptoms I do have.
I have been taking estroven PM after my dr rec’d it. My hot flashes are gone completely and I feel much better. No side effects that I can see. I am thrilled.
I have had pretty good results (for hot flashes) from Estrovan plus Energy (only this formulation; none of their other formulations work for me, not even extra strength). Only thing is I have to take double the dosage for the hot flashes to be managed. A couple of years ago they reformulated it and that’s when I had to start doubling the dosage. I get it from Amazon via their “subscribe and save” program so that makes the price pretty good compared to a store. This particular formulation is relatively hard to find but Amazon has it.
I have been on estroven for about three months now and am completely satisfied. Hot flashes have diminished to a tolerable level. I have tried most of the different blends and the mood and memory works for me. I would highly recommend this product to anyone.
Estroven has worked for me so far. I have been taking it for about a month now. I am very pleased to be rid of those pesky hot flashes. However, I have noticed water retention which I read can be caused by the soy. I exercise regularly and my routine includes cadio, weight resistance and yoga-so the extra water weight is disconcerting.
I was having quite spectacular hot flashes anywhere from 5 to 20 in a 24 hr period. I wasn’t sleeping well or enough because I would have to not only get up to change my clothing but also sometimes change pillowcases or line my bed with towels. I actually became dehydrated because I was sweating so much.
I have had good results with estroven night formula for relieving the hot flashes. I would say it knocked them down by up to 75%. I am sleeping well and not totally soaked all day.
I have not noticed mood swings so can’t speak to that.
But I am confused by something.. the pkg says no artificial colors.. this web site says carcinogenic titanium dioxide dye on the check list but on the list of ingredients it says titanium dioxide ( natural mineral source)… so which is it?
I take estroven night formula. Per this website it does not have the progesterone raising ingredient. Does this really matter to our health or is it all about symptom relief? I am having good results with the estroven but not sure if I need to be concerned about the lack of progesterone? Will this effect my health or just the way my symptoms present (or don’t as, the case may be)?
thanks for any info.
I take estroven night formula. My hot flashes have been reduced by about 80+% (from 25 + /day to less than 5). I have however put on several pounds.

Also, what about what I have read about only taking Black Cohosh for periods of 6 months at a time? Do you have any info on that?
thanks for any info.
I have been taking Estroven for 4 months and have noticed a significant decrease in my hot flashes, but I have noticed my urine is a bright yellow color is this a side affect from the drug,, the urine color is bright yellow just like the pill is.
Like the other ladies for whom this was successful, I love the stuff. I’m 51 and started having embarassing hot flashes throughout the day. After completing my first large box of the extra strength Estroven, they went away completely. I just had my annual physical and my internest asked when my last period was. I told her it had been more than six months. She said that I had a small amount of dark blood throughout my uterus. I had had no spotting, so this was a surprise. She referred me to a gynecologist, but I have a feeling that it was the Estroven that has led to the bleeding. After she examined me, I had a small amount of dark spotting, but it has stopped now. As I had just finished the full box, I decided to hold off on taking anymore until I see the gynecologist.
I am 53 years old and have taken Estroven for six months. I have used three different Estroven products. I have within the past three weeks been concerned about the rash around the right side of my mouth. I ruled out cold sores, there are no blisters, I have discovered through reading comments on this page that others have had a rash also and from reading the side effects from black cohosh that a rash is possible. So, I think the Estroven Maximum Strenth I am taking now has too high of a concentration of black cohosh for me. I’m going to go back to Estroven Overnight. Other than that I’m happy with the results, my main complaint was not sleeping at night. Estroven helps me sleep longer and I only wake up once.
I was taking estrvan for a few years to relieve my symptoms like hot flashes , etc. found out after being diagnosed with stage one uterine cancer that taking this extra estrogen without the progesterone causes this type of cancer…beware …see your dr. for a blended med if you still have all your female parts . I learned the hard way ..thought it was natural and I didn’t need a script from a dr. boy was I wrong .
* I meant estroven ..
